Ben Powis is a recent graduate with a brilliant style of artwork that you just have to fall in love with. It's colourful, its crazy, and it's unique - and each of his comics continue that. Currently based in the West Midlands and working as a freelance illustrator, Ben is new to the comics scene with his great Turtle Guitar as his first real comic. However, for over a year Ben has been self-publishing his own books and illustrations (these can be found at his website).

Each of his comics boast high quality production, and a lot of care and attention has not only gone into the finished pieces of artwork, but also in the package as a whole. For example, Turtle Guitar is 8 pages of A4 full colour pages, and with his brilliant artwork, you can't really complain too much. It's a strange hybrid of rough colourful cuteness that just seems to work out in the end.

His storytelling seems simplistic, but matches the cuteness and roughness of his finished artwork. Again, taking Turtle Guitar as an example, it's wacky and crazy, yet appeals to most anyone. I could imagine it easily being a short children's story, but it's also just cool enough and crazy enough to work for most adults, too.
