David Baillie is one of the prominent figures in the UK independent scene, currently writing a column about it 2000AD's monthly "Judge Dredd Megazine". Originally from Scotland, Baillie's comics do have a very British feel about them. They are expertly done, and during his time he has created quite a few. Most notable, probably, is "The Indiscriminate Device", a great story, and illustrated in Baillie's smooth style. His newer work, "Tongue of the Dead" offers a great story, great characters, and again shows off Baillies lovely linework. Personally, I enjoyed "A Dog's Tale", the story of a boy meeting what would appear to be a talking dog in an alternate reality. Showcasing once again, Baillie's fantastic, yet simple, artwork, and his storytelling ability never misses.

Baillie is definitely recommended, and worth checking out. His comics are available on his website, along with some of his art samples. Boasting quality linework, and impressive storytelling, Baillie really shows what the indie scene can do.
