David Hitchcock has been working on comics since 1994, when he had a job as editorial artist at the Derby Evening Telegraph. In 1999 he had Spirit of the Highwayman published, and thus began David Hitchcock's reign of the horror genre. David's style is instantly noticeable as you browse his catalogue of comics. He favours historical fantasy horror stories, with his spin on Jack the Ripper with the comic Whitechapel Freak, or The Spirit of the Highwayman, and the newer Springheeled Jack. But every time his writing is spot on, and he puts enough of a spin on an old classic idea to make it completely worth your while.

His artwork is impressive, too. Springheeled Jack's beautifully Victorian style is fantastic, allowing for Hitchcock's own characterisations while keeping within the art's theme. You can see how his art has evolved between Highwayman and Jack, looking slightly more polished with Springheeled Jack, but the art still shines through in Highwayman and Whitechapel Freak.
