Matthew Craig has created a tonne of comics during his time on the indie scene, and he really embodies the indie spirit. Matthew creates comics, not to break into the mainstream, not to try and make money. He does it purely for the fun of creating comics, and it does really show through his work. Like a lot of indie creators, Matthew has placed his own life in the comics, and personally I feel these are his best. The story Hondle, about Matthew's former dog, is easily one of his best. However, he doesn't stick to this, creating other more fantasy-based stories.

Matthew's artwork isn't great, even a little childish in places, but the spirit of it is still there. During Hondle, his artwork really works, it's a memory of his dog. But come to some of his other works, such as Trouble Bruin, the artwork is noticeably weak. Looking through his comics, you can see a big change as his artwork is more developed, but sometimes it doesn't meet up to what the script requires of it. However, his comics are still fun and entertaining romps, which the odd gem in. You can tell Matthew enjoys creating what he does, and it really shows through in his work. I certainly recommend Hondle, and a lot of his other comics are available on his website for viewing.
