“FLOODS” CHARITY COMIC PROJECT Comics on mobile service ROK Comics is supporting the Clown Press Charity Comic “Floods” – available now as a download from lulu.com at http://www.lulu.com/content/2504840 -- with mobile adaptations of comics submitted for the project. You can view all the comics adapted so far on the ROK Comics web site at www.rokcomics.com/floods.php. All the strips are free to view in their entirety on the web but once we have 20 we’ll be adding the project to ROK’s various WAP comics services – Claire’s, djuice and more -- and the viewing of them on those will earn money for the Red Cross. All the comics include a final frame actively encouraging support for the charity. If creators would like to contribute a comic to the Floods mobile comics project, simply send John Freeman at ROK Comics no more than 10 frames at 480 x 480 pixel size (300 dpi if also for print), using 18 point lettering so they can be read on a mobile – basically, the same format you need to create a normal ROK Comic (10 frames enables “top and tailing” the strips to promote the cause and the creators who contribute). E-mail them as a zipped file or send them in the post on CD. The only proviso to any contribution is that the strip should have some element of a “Floods” theme, however tenuous, but can be funny, angry, satirical, whatever... After the floods in Britain last year, Adam Grose was moved to try and inspire the comics community to create a collection of one page strips and raise funds for flood relief last year. "The UK experienced some of the most horrendous weather, with a month's worth of rain falling in 24 hours," Adam explains. "During this time, many of our fellow citizens experienced flooding, unknown to many of us. "I decided to put together a comic to help raise awareness of our changing world, the environment and the increasing floods and disasters, that seem ever increasing since the turn of the millennium. "The book will help raise money for the Red Cross and victims of the floods. Hopefully, this will be available the world over and help to bring more awareness to our world community." Adam also hopes to add to the existing book with more strips, so if you would like to contribute a strip to an expanded edition of the book -- which may eventually see real world publication -- get in touch with him via the Clown Press web site ( http://www.clownpress.com/). Please feel free to pass this on to other creators you may know or if you’re a member of the comics press, please promote this ongoing digital project. Thanks for your time!
